How clean are your brushes?

Are your makeup brushes in need of some deep cleaning? This is one of the reasons that we have skin problems. We never think about cleaning our brushes. Today’s “Do you dōTERRA daily” is a makeup brush cleanser that is super easy and only requires three simple ingredients.

Ingredients

2 tablespoons doTERRA Fractionated Coconut Oil
5 drops Tea Tree oil
5 drops Grapefruit oil

Instructions

  1. Add Fractionated Coconut Oil and essential oils into a small bowl.
  2. Swirl your makeup brush in the Fractionated Coconut Oil mixture for 30 seconds, or until you see the makeup stored in your brush start to come out.
  3. Rub in a circular motion on the palm of hand to help get the makeup out.
  4. Rinse the brush under warm water. Gently squeeze brush bristles until clean, and the water runs clear. Note: Make sure to point the bristles down when running under water. Direct water contact may loosen the glue where the bristles are attached and shorten the life of your brushes.
  5. Let your newly cleaned makeup brushes dry on a towel for four hours, or until dry. Repeat once a month, or as needed.

And just because I like to have options, I thought you might like a few too…

Do you know what you are putting on your skin?

Don’t you just love this time of year! I do, I love the hustle and bustle of it all and I REALLY love all the sales! I love a good deal. Today’s “Do you dōTERRA daily?” is all about that good deal that really isn’t a good deal.

The quick fix, without reading all of the science, is to switch to doTERRA’s unscented lotion. The great thing about this lotion is you get to pick what scent you want! I love mixing different Essential Oils in with this unscented lotion to come up with a unique scent that I can change as the mood hits me. *The important thing to remember is that a little EO goes a long way!* 1-2 drops is more than enough.

Don’t like the way that lotion feels, no problem just add a few drops of EO’s to some fractionated coconut oil.

Now this looks like a great holiday gift…right? Read on my friend.

Please understand that chemicals disrupt your body’s major organ functions and your endocrine system.⚠️

😐These types of lotions, body washes, and body sprays are in gift sets sold in all the major stores. These sets target not only adults but also young girls who are already suffering from an out of balance hormone system. You can find hundreds of toxic ingredients in lotions, bathbombs, makeup and perfumes.

Our skin is our largest organ. The ingredients in these products get absorbed into our bloodstream within 26 seconds, & even quicker for kiddos who will absorb up to 50% more than an adult would. 👎🏼Toxic exposures will also put a child at higher risk for disease(s) later in life.

I know those beautiful gift sets & marketing can reel you in, but please watch out for yourself & your loved ones! ❤️

☝🏻So many ingredients to avoid…

🚫Butylene Glycol: found in anti-freeze & break & hydraulic fluid. It can cause an increased skin reaction in people with sensitive skin. It can also be called Propylene Glycol.

🚫Isopropyl Alchohol: may cause premature aging of skin. Also found in anti-freeze. It strips skin of natural acid mantle, promoting growth of bacteria. It can cause headaches, flushed skin, dizziness, nausea & vomiting, & mental depression according to A Consumer’s Dictionary of Cosmetic Ingredients.

🚫Tetrasodium EDTA: contains formaldehyde & a known skin & lung irritant

🚫BHT: this fragrance has been linked to organ system toxicity & a known skin, eye, & lung irritant

🚫Disodium EDTA: neurotoxin linked to brain damage & liver changes in animals

🚫Diazolidinyl Urea: this chemical releases formaldehyde into your body. Mayo Clinic says formaldehyde can irritate the respiratory system, cause skin reactions, trigger heart palpations, immune system toxicity, & cancer in humans. Exposure may cause joint pain, depression, headaches, dizziness, loss of sleep, chronic fatigue, ear infections, allergies, & chest pains. It can also trigger asthma & aggravate colds! Formaldehyde is a known carcinogen found in Johnson and Johnson baby care products, skincare, antiperspirants, & hair dyes.

🚫Methylparaben & Propylparaben: directly linked to breast cancer. In mice it had weak estrogenic effects which caused damage to the sperm formation in the testes. It may contribute to sterility in males, hormone imbalances in females, and cause early puberty. A relative of methylparaben, sodium methylparaben has been banned in the E.U. Some other common names for paraben’s are ethyl-, butyl-, & isobutyl- all ending with paraben. These do not have to be labeled, so sometimes companies will not list within ingredients panel.

🚫Ceterareth-20: ENHANCES the absorption of ALL above chemicals

🤓I know you think they smell good, but they really are so bad for you. Once you stop using these products your body will begin to detox these harmful ingredients. I promise you won’t miss them because they really won’t smell that great to you anymore when you experience products scented with natural (real) fragrance. We can do better ladies. It’s all up to us to make better choices. 💪🏼

I forgot to mention that we have 2 other AMAZING lotions. Rose and Citrus Bliss

Ugh… I’m sorry!

I didn’t get my blog written yesterday. I have so many excuses and I thought about listing them all off as I figure out what to write about today. Then I took a deep breath and rolled Forgive over my heart and put Blue Tansy on my big toe.

Today’s “Do you dōTERRA daily?” is about forgiving yourself. So often we expect so much from ourselves and we are harsh with ourselves when we don’t accomplish our tasks. The idea of writing a quick blog everyday shouldn’t be that big of a deal, until you factor in: the person writing it really doesn’t think of herself as a writer, it’s the month of December and all that entails, her only daughter is getting married January 2nd, family obligations, daily business, household chores, opening a non-profit this month and on top of everything lets throw in a quick sewing project.

Michael said the only ugly Christmas sweater he would wear is a plain one that said “UGLY”
So I made him this one.

With daily lists as long as most of us write, it is no wonder that people are stressed all the time. It’s no wonder that we say “I’m sorry” rather than, “excuse me” when we bump into people in the grocery aisle. (Blog about that to come soon.)

So today I will slow down a bit and look at all the things I did accomplish yesterday and not the things I didn’t. ( I really do think the “ugly” Christmas sweater for my hubby turned out great!)

What can you forgive yourself for today? #DoyoudōTERRAdaily

Do you have a Vision Board?

Are you a goal setter? Do you have a vision board?  Today’s “Do you dōTERRA daily?” is inspired by my being able to take something (actually 2 things) off of my vision board (VB). WOOHOO!!!

I have big goals and huge dreams. I started a vision board YEARS ago but hadn’t been able to take anything off of it until now. First off most of the things I put on there aren’t completely in my control, so this year I added a few smaller goals that are completely in my control.

Next, I started adding Blue Tansy to my big toe before I sit down in front of my VB. If you have a VB you should sit in front of it every morning and every night imagining that those things are already true.

Why Blue Tansy and why the big toe? Blue Tansy being the Emotional Oil of Inspired Action, can you guess what it does??? That’s right, it gets your rear end in gear. It has helped so many people to stop procrastinating.  Many people named it “Anti-procrastination in a bottle” Why the BIG toe you ask?? The big toe is the reflex point of the brain, don’t we all want to have a direct effect on the brain point with inspired action. Motivation, movement and momentum, sound good to you?

Get thee hence satan (or super bugs)

Oh the cleaning that has been happening around here is crazy! If you read Tuesday’s blog then you know the “visitor” that has invaded my house is not one that is a welcome guest. Hands are being washed every few minutes, my son has been banished from the kitchen and all the door handles, light switches and stair railings have been wiped down…repeatedly with OnGuard Spray.

Here’s the cool thing, no one else in the house is displaying any symptoms so we are pretty sure that our uninvited guest got the idea and has vacated the building.

You might ask why I use OnGuard and not typical household cleaners? Science is why!! Check out this super cool science project that was done by a 5th grader

Did you know that chemical cleaners are not only hazardous for your health in many ways, they are pretty ineffective. The only thing that performs as well or better than OnGuard is straight up bleach in every Petri dish experiment I’ve seen! Kids can clean with OnGuard and even lick it with no concerns to toxicity.

This was a post by Katy Smolik. Her son Hayden did a 5th-grade school project on OnGuard essential oil versus Clorox and Lysol and how it kills bacteria. His results speak volumes! Katy said the Clorox didn’t make it a day! The bacteria was sourced from their chicken coop.

Today’s “Do you dōTERRA daily” is to make the switch to On Guard products. There are a bunch of them, I’m not going to stop you from getting them all (I couldn’t live without them all) but I will tell you if you can only switch one right now go with the On Guard Blend. When you have this blend, you can DIY most of the rest of them.

No time to DIY, me either, get all the OnGuard Products here. You won’t regret it

Today’s “Do you dōTERRA daily” is all about total PANIC!!! What was I thinking? A blog a day for 30 days, are you kidding me? Whose idea was this anyway?

Ok it was totally my idea, and I know why… I love using oils daily. This should be easy, and using them is easy. Writing about how I use them everyday, is NOT easy.

So what to do when the world seems to be on your shoulders and the weight of your decisions seems overwhelming? Umm… that’s easy… use some oils. (I bet you saw that coming)

My favorite go-to’s when it all gets to be too much are:

Breathe blend, totally helps you breathe mentally as well as physically.

Citrus Bliss, have I mentioned this is my happy place??

Adaptiv, I could teach an entire hour long class on the amazingness of Adaptiv. For those of you that want more than “oh my gosh the blend just works” Then check out this blog post.

There are SO MANY more but I will just mention 2

Lime, there is a reason they “put the lime in the coconut” its because lime is super uplifting and helps you relax.

And last but certainly not least FRANKINCENSE. This is the king of oils. There is a reason that this was a gift to baby Jesus…this stuff is a miracle! For situations like today where I’m having a bit of a freak-out, Frank comes in like that best friend and just gently reminds me that all is well. For more info on Frankincense read my other blog post

What to do at 11pm and your child isn’t feeling the best.

My son came to me at 11pm last night with a raging throat discomfort. It was too late for urgent care and not dire enough to go to the emergency room. Essential Oils to the rescue!

I am so very thankful for natural solutions in my home when my kiddos aren’t feeling the best. Today’s “Do you dōTERRA daily” is how I helped my son with his raw throat.

When I need info on how to use my essential oils I have a few favorite books. The Essential Life, Modern Essential and Essentials of the Earth. If you don’t have any of these books there are several apps, google and there is always Pinterest. I try to stay away from Pinterest unless I have a ton of time to spend. (Anyone else think that time goes faster when you are looking on Pinterest?)

Here is the blend that we used last night to help his throat feel better.

This morning I did take my son to the doctor and I’m really glad I did as he has Strep. We got him a prescription and he is on the mend. He did ask to do the honey and oils again to help soothe his throat while he waited for his meds to kick in. I have a feeling tomorrow’s blog will be about how I use essential oils to “exercise” the house from the microscopic demons that have invaded.

You put that in your mouth?

Have you ever forgotten your toothbrush when you travel? I did this weekend.  I love that hotels will provide you with a complimentary toothbrush, but have you ever really looked at the toothpaste they bring you?

Ok that little tube is so cute! But don’t let its cuteness fool you. (click on the pic for ingredients)

Today’s “Do you dōTERRA daily?” is about how a simple change of toothpaste can significantly impact your overall health. Onguard toothpaste to the rescues!!

Brushing your teeth everyday should be a no brainer, my question is why are there SO MANY toxins in your toothpastes? Did you know that there is a warning label on your toothpaste? I found this ingredient particularly disturbing.

I am so grateful to have doTERRA On Guard Natural Whitening Toothpaste. It cleans my teeth and freshens my breath all without adding toxins to my body. If you want to read more about the ingredients and the benefits of doTERRA On Guard Natural Whitening Toothpaste, click this link.

These boots weren’t made for walking

Oh my goodness my feet are killing me!! As much fun as it is to dress up and to wear heels I’m not sure the days of pain after are worth it.

So much fun walking around Las Vegas with good friends, after our 25 year wedding vow renewal ceremony. More pics to come!

Luckily for me I have amazing natural solutions that help me deal with the discomfort in minutes rather than days. Deep Blue to the rescue!! I rubbed a little bit of this into my feet, oh that felt good, AND a little foot massage is so good for you. Read here if you want to know more about reflexology

Here’s the thing, not only do my feet feel better but so does my back. I didn’t even realize how sore my back was until I felt the relief.

Isn’t it cool how putting oils on your feet can actually help other parts of your body?

Here are some other oils that can help with different parts of your body

The other great thing is that I didn’t have to use a product that has a list of side effects. I was able to use something natural that my body was able to “digest” just like food. Today’s “Do you dōTERRA daily” is to try Deep Blue for that high heel induced body ache. Or any other body discomfort you might be experiencing.

“Breathe” with me

Help me Breathe!!! I am allergic to cigarette smoke, well all smoke really. And I forgot that you can smoke pretty much everywhere in Las Vegas. You can’t smoke indoors anywhere in Minnesota. So I’ve been having a bit of respiratory distress since we got here.

Of course, I travel with a case of oils. And I always have “Breathe” with me.

1 drop in my hand and I’m breathing easy for hours.

You can also put Breathe in a diffuser or rub some on your feet or chest. For more ways to use Breathe check out this doTERRA blog
