BRRRR…It’s Cold Outside! Air-X to The Rescue!

February is another cold month in Minnesota… as in, EXTREMELY cold! This is the time of year  I stay at home doing my work online and catch up on those home projects I’ve been meaning to get to.

For some, extreme cold weather can cause discomfort as it triggers trouble in breathing. Luckily for me, I have an amazing natural solution that helps me deal with this discomfort while staying at home and doing those extra chores.

Today’s “Do you dōTERRA daily?” is all about getting fresh air and inviting a sweet aroma in your home despite the cold weather outside. Indoor plants and Air-X to the rescue!!

I needed to do something about the quality of air in my house so this weekend I added a few new indoor plants to clear the air naturally and to purify the air I breathe. And… they make me feel better! I love the extra green and the sight of living things when outside looks so bleak and dead. (Side note: Before you bring a new plant home, please make a research first to those that are kid and pet safe because some plants can be poisonous.)

This is the new plant stand I just added
Improve the air in your home with Air-X!

I’m going crazy over my AirX Blend. You guys know how much I love Citrus Bliss? I love Air-X almost as much, it is really that good!!

Air-X is a blend of essential oils with an intense citrusy, woody, and faintly herbal aroma, It is designed to help freshen the air and create a calm yet energizing atmosphere when diffused. Check this dōterra blog for the usage tips!

I diffuse Air-X to help purify my air, which has an AMAZING effect! Experimental research suggests that Litsea, an essential oil used in Air-X, soothes and promotes feelings of openness and may provide cleansing benefits. I love the idea that it is enriched with a combination of Litsea, Tangerine, Grapefruit, Frankincense, and Cardamom oils meant to help cool and enliven the body, and it helps me breathe better…bonus!!

One more thing to really help improve the air quality in your home, have your ducts cleaned. If you are in the Twin Cities metro area I highly suggest Clean Air Restoration. Not only are they amazing to work with, they will also run doTERRA oils through your ducts for an extra clean! Mention “Ronai” (that is pronounced Row Nay) for a special discount.

Let’s stay connected

Icy roads, white knuckles and neck tension

(This post was written on Dec 28th, Due to a death in the family and our daughters wedding this is the first opportunity I’ve had to post it)

This morning I got up very early because I had a “30 min” drive to the airport, and allowing myself the 2 hour before flight time meant that I had to be up at 5 am out the door by 5:45 gives and extra 15 mins if roads are bad. No problem.  Well it’s a good thing that I was ready 20 mins early. The news had been reporting that 6am-3pm the twin cities would be under a winter storm advisory. I figured our drive in would be easy-peasy and my husband might have a bit of weather to deal with on the way home.

The drive started out fine but about 15 mins in it starts to rain a little, no problem. I’ve lived in MN since I was 7 and my hubby has been here the last 24 years so we are totally fine with winter driving. Then we go over an overpass and the car starts to slide to the side, and up ahead of use we start seeing people’s hazard lights come on. So, my husband slows down, then slows down some more. We now understand why the hazards, it was completely unsafe to drive faster than 15-20 miles an hour. Next thing I know a huge garbage truck is sliding sideways in our direction. It almost hit us, as in less than a foot from us.

The lights should not be facing us on this side of the highway

I’d like to say that I had the presence of mind to get my oils out at this point, but I did not. I spent the next half an hour watching out for cars that wanted to slide into us, and there were more than a few. We ended up stopped on the highway with a pile up in front of us, 2 cars tried to go around and almost slide into us. (I’m talking inches close to our car) Michael had to pull off into the grass at one point to avoid one car. Just the way the road was banked was enough that cars were sliding wiley-niley. A food truck slide into a park-and-go shuttle. And all the while I’m watching the time tick closer to us missing the flight. I’d love to say that I thought about grabbing my oils here, but again I was so stressed out I didn’t even think of it.

Here we are in the grass

We finally got moving and were able to go around the 8-9 car pile-up and were so close to the airport I thought “Oh we are going to make it” Then I saw the line of red lights, then the emergency lights, and I knew that was going to be the end of it. Thankfully my son saw the “service” road sign and we were able to exit and take the service road for the airport.

We got out of the car at the hotel airport, took the skyway to the tram and were able to make our flight on time. The flight however was delayed 45 mins while they waited for the flight crew that was stuck in that 8-9 car pileup…yikes.

When I finally was able to calm down at the gate I realized a few things. First, I’m not sure that I put on deodorant this morning and mine is packed. On Guard Hand Sanitizing Mist to the rescue. It totally works in a pinch. If you’ve just shaved though it might sting a bit.

Next, I was stressed! That was a hard, stressful ride, so I pulled out my oils and went to work. A little Brave because well… I wasn’t feeling all that excited about Michael driving home. I’m not worried about his driving skills, he’s amazing. I did however witness a lot of people making very foolish choices and affecting others cars. I also just really love the aroma of Brave. I know its our kids blend but as Tara says “I was so Brave!”

I also noticed a lot of tension in my neck and jaw.  I have a habit of clenching when stressed so I pulled out my Past Tense and applied it to both of those areas. I only wish I would have thought of it sooner.

So, today’s “Do you dōTERRA daily?” is a reminder that even the most diligent oil users can get overwhelmed and not think about the tools they have right in front of them until the crisis has passed. I’m just thankful that when I did think about what my body needed; I had those tools with me.

Side note… Got a call right before my plane took off that my son crashed my van, he is ok ? but the van is not drive-able. Hug your loved ones, cuddle up and stay warm.  #doyoudoTERRAdaily

Is it shark week at your house?

Ok, I figured that this would come up sometime this month and it’s a little TMI. Guys if you are sensitive about “that time of the month” then stop reading right now. However, if you are enlightened and want to know how to help the women in your life get through what is completely natural, in a less painful way, then read on.

Menstruation… there I said it. It’s not a dirty word, its not evil, it is a natural bodily function that happens monthly for most women. There are lots of other words for this process, menses, period, Aunt Flo, Carrie, Shark Week, Leak week, whatever you call it for most women it is torture. I mean you have the lining of your uterus literally ripping away from your body and…too much? I’ll just blame that last sentence on the “girl flu”.

How about we get straight to today’s “Do you dōTERRA daily?” fix, Clary Calm. I can’t even begin to tell you how much this has helped in my home and all of my friends’ homes as well.

Clary Calm not only helps with the aches and bloating but helps manage all of the emotions that tend to be a bit like a roller-coaster during this week. I am so incredibly thankful for this little blend and I hope that this TMI post helps you too. #doyoudoterradaily

Have you been making merry?

Does it feel weird that Christmas was in the middle of the week? I feel like it should be the weekend but nope, my hubby and boys went back to work today.

You know what else feels weird, my belly. Everything feels a bit…off. I might’ve been making merry with the rich and sugary foods that seem to been endless (my fridge is still full). Today I woke up feeling, and looking a bit like Santa after an all-nighter binging on sugar cookies.

Today’s “Do you dōTERRA daily?” is all about helping your belly! A few things that are a “must do everyday” Make sure you are taking your vitamins. I love the Life Long Vitality vitamins. I will write a longer blog all about them very soon.

I also take Terrazyme daily, this is again a whole blog post in itself. (coming soon)

And when I’ve over done like this week, its Digestzen to the rescue. There is a whole line of Digestzen products so I have a few things to choose from. Today I just needed a little Digestzen touch on my belly and I’m already feeling relief.

Sometimes with things a bit more upset then I will take some Digestzen internally. I don’t like the flavor (tastes like black licorice) so I take the Digestzen Softgels.

Not that I encourage over indulging…who am I kidding… I totally encourage it. I’m a huge food pusher. If you do happen to over indulge then these are the tools that you need to help put yourself right. #doyoudōTERRAdaily

The Best Present Is To Be Present

Are you feeling it? The deep down, tired in your bones, I love the holiday’s but can I get some peace and quiet yet? Whatever holiday’s you are celebrating at this time of year, I want to wish you and yours good health and happiness. I also want to give you some tools to make it through the next couple of weeks with your sanity intact.

Ok I couldn’t resist…this meme made me giggle!

Today’s “Do you dōTERRA daily?” is about self-care.

Just for fun, on top of the holidays, my sweet daughter decided to throw in a wedding on January 2nd.  It will be a lovely one, but I knew a few things had to go for me to keep be able to get other things done.

Things I let go of this year:

  • I didn’t decorate… at all
  • No family newsletter/Christmas card
  • I didn’t make cookies for all of my neighbors (although I still might, if the mood hits me)
  • I didn’t do an advent
  • I didn’t do a secret Santa

What I am doing instead:

  • Taking the time I need to prepare for my daughter’s wedding
  • Making her bridal veil, because I want to not because I have to
  • Playing games with my family (Sorry and Skipbo are family favs)
  • Teaching my grown-up kids how to make some of my recipes so that they know how to make them for themselves when they can’t be home
  • And using my oils…all of them LOL! My happy place go to is Citrus Bliss

This time of year can be overwhelming for so may reasons but most of all…because we let it. Take “you” time. It is not selfish; the world won’t collapse because you decided to take a bath. (make sure to add bath salts with EO) And be sure to drink plenty of water, exercise a little and stretch.

You might not be able to accomplish everything that you want to do, make sure that you prioritize so you get the important things accomplished. Most of all, be present…that is the best present you can give!

EO Hack for when the pressure is too much!

Today’s “Do you dōTERRA daily?” is inspired by a friend that is all stuffed up. He is feeling a bit miserable and asked what Essential Oils could help. Of course, I gave him all the usual immune support help.

Onguard internally and on his feet. Breathe to help open the airways (check out this short video) and Breathe Touch or Breath Vapor Stick to rub on his chest.

Lots of water and rest. But then I surprised him when I said to rub a little Digestzen Touch on the bridge of his nose to cheek bones ( think sinus passages) forehead (upper sinuses) and bellybutton.

Wait… I thought Digestzen was for digestive health. Well my friend, here is a little EO hack that not a lot of people know but they should. Digestzen helps to break up mucus so it is the perfect blend to use when you are feeling a bit stuffed up.

Hope you don’t need this little fun fact, but if you do… you’re welcome ?

Are your hands holdable?

Today’s “Do you dōTERRA daily?” is inspired by my dirty carpets. Ok really its inspired by Tim Ross of My Trusted Carpet Cleaners. If you are local and need your carpets/tile cleaned I HIGHLY recommend Tim. He is friendly, respectful and you can’t beat his price or the quality of his work…check out this before and after pic.

He was over today cleaning my carpets and mentioned that he has very dry skin due to the solution he uses. Well doTERRA to the rescue! We have a few different options that are available. Of course, you already know about our Unscented Hand and Body Lotion. If not check out this blog post

I also want to show you 2 others depending on your moisture needs. First is a favorite at our house for many different reasons. Is smells wonderful, leaves your skin hydrated and does not leave you feeling greasy. dōTERRA’s Hydrating Body Mist with Beautiful Blend

(On a side note I teach an Intimacy and Essential Oils class and this is a MUST HAVE in the bedroom.)

Next is new to the doTERRA family. We have Yarrow/Pom and Yarrow/Pom Body Renewal Serum.

Check out this AMAZING before and after pic. The difference between the two is Yarrow/Pom is just what it says Yarrow essential oil and pomegranate oil.

Yarrow/Pom Body Renewal Serum has the added benefit of Jojoba, Sunflower, Grape, and Argan Kernel oils provide deep moisturizing benefits and help prevent premature signs of aging. It also has other CPTG essential oils of Roman Chamomile, Yuzu, Peppermint, and Cananga soothe skin and promote a positive, relaxed mood.

Ugh… I’m sorry!

I didn’t get my blog written yesterday. I have so many excuses and I thought about listing them all off as I figure out what to write about today. Then I took a deep breath and rolled Forgive over my heart and put Blue Tansy on my big toe.

Today’s “Do you dōTERRA daily?” is about forgiving yourself. So often we expect so much from ourselves and we are harsh with ourselves when we don’t accomplish our tasks. The idea of writing a quick blog everyday shouldn’t be that big of a deal, until you factor in: the person writing it really doesn’t think of herself as a writer, it’s the month of December and all that entails, her only daughter is getting married January 2nd, family obligations, daily business, household chores, opening a non-profit this month and on top of everything lets throw in a quick sewing project.

Michael said the only ugly Christmas sweater he would wear is a plain one that said “UGLY”
So I made him this one.

With daily lists as long as most of us write, it is no wonder that people are stressed all the time. It’s no wonder that we say “I’m sorry” rather than, “excuse me” when we bump into people in the grocery aisle. (Blog about that to come soon.)

So today I will slow down a bit and look at all the things I did accomplish yesterday and not the things I didn’t. ( I really do think the “ugly” Christmas sweater for my hubby turned out great!)

What can you forgive yourself for today? #DoyoudōTERRAdaily

Get thee hence satan (or super bugs)

Oh the cleaning that has been happening around here is crazy! If you read Tuesday’s blog then you know the “visitor” that has invaded my house is not one that is a welcome guest. Hands are being washed every few minutes, my son has been banished from the kitchen and all the door handles, light switches and stair railings have been wiped down…repeatedly with OnGuard Spray.

Here’s the cool thing, no one else in the house is displaying any symptoms so we are pretty sure that our uninvited guest got the idea and has vacated the building.

You might ask why I use OnGuard and not typical household cleaners? Science is why!! Check out this super cool science project that was done by a 5th grader

Did you know that chemical cleaners are not only hazardous for your health in many ways, they are pretty ineffective. The only thing that performs as well or better than OnGuard is straight up bleach in every Petri dish experiment I’ve seen! Kids can clean with OnGuard and even lick it with no concerns to toxicity.

This was a post by Katy Smolik. Her son Hayden did a 5th-grade school project on OnGuard essential oil versus Clorox and Lysol and how it kills bacteria. His results speak volumes! Katy said the Clorox didn’t make it a day! The bacteria was sourced from their chicken coop.

Today’s “Do you dōTERRA daily” is to make the switch to On Guard products. There are a bunch of them, I’m not going to stop you from getting them all (I couldn’t live without them all) but I will tell you if you can only switch one right now go with the On Guard Blend. When you have this blend, you can DIY most of the rest of them.

No time to DIY, me either, get all the OnGuard Products here. You won’t regret it

Today’s “Do you dōTERRA daily” is all about total PANIC!!! What was I thinking? A blog a day for 30 days, are you kidding me? Whose idea was this anyway?

Ok it was totally my idea, and I know why… I love using oils daily. This should be easy, and using them is easy. Writing about how I use them everyday, is NOT easy.

So what to do when the world seems to be on your shoulders and the weight of your decisions seems overwhelming? Umm… that’s easy… use some oils. (I bet you saw that coming)

My favorite go-to’s when it all gets to be too much are:

Breathe blend, totally helps you breathe mentally as well as physically.

Citrus Bliss, have I mentioned this is my happy place??

Adaptiv, I could teach an entire hour long class on the amazingness of Adaptiv. For those of you that want more than “oh my gosh the blend just works” Then check out this blog post.

There are SO MANY more but I will just mention 2

Lime, there is a reason they “put the lime in the coconut” its because lime is super uplifting and helps you relax.

And last but certainly not least FRANKINCENSE. This is the king of oils. There is a reason that this was a gift to baby Jesus…this stuff is a miracle! For situations like today where I’m having a bit of a freak-out, Frank comes in like that best friend and just gently reminds me that all is well. For more info on Frankincense read my other blog post
