Essential Oils in Laundry Routine

Don’t you wish this was your laundry room? Me too 😉

Do you care about improving your health? Of course you do!!! It’s time to address your laundry room. Let me share with you my cleaning secrets!

Today’s “Do you doTERRA daily?” is all about how to include essential oils in your laundry routine. Some essential oils can have natural cleansing and purifying properties. They are effective cleaning agents because they are potent and powerful. (I love how cool nature is!)

Washing Machine Cleaner

Have you made friends with your washing machine? Does he or she have a name? Mine is Gerty. She’s a strong, powerful machine that is able to tackle my family’s high demands. And in return for her amazing service I make sure to take good care of her. Part of that is making sure that Gerty is nice and clean. Cleaning your washing machine regularly is necessary. It can prolong the life of your beloved washing machine (friend) and ensures a higher-quality wash. Once a week after you’ve finished a batch of laundry, use this recipe with Tea Tree and Grapefruit oils to help cleanse and refresh your machine.

Ingredients

¾ cup white vinegar

10 drops Tea Tree (Melaleuca) oil

5 drops Grapefruit oil

Instructions

In an eight-ounce glass spray bottle, combine all ingredients.

Shake well and spray the solution around the seal (the rubber at the front), drum, and door of your washing machine.

Using a soft cloth, thoroughly wipe down.

Remove your soap dispenser tray. Spray and wipe down, then put it back.

Let air dry before you do the next batch of laundry.

For top-loading washers, you can use this same recipe to wipe down the drum and outside of your washer.

For additional recipes, check out this doTerra blog. Try this recipe weekly to deep clean your washing machine (Gerty Loves it!)

Ever notice how your linens start to smell like the closet they are in? Not to worry…

Freshen your Linens with Lavender and Eucalyptus

Natural linen spray gets clothes clean without the presence of chemicals. Here’s a simple way to make a linen spray that adds a fresh, clean aroma to your home and cabinet.

These essential oils combined will create an uplifting, calming, and refreshing linen spray.

dōTERRA On Guard® Laundry Detergent (This is Gerty’s favorite!)

Most traditional laundry detergents that you can find in supermarkets or stores are packed with chemicals. These chemicals are harmful to the environment and to you. Think about the fact that your clothes rub up against you all day, or you cuddle up in your blankets all night. Don’t you want to make sure that your clothes and blankets are washed in a safe, non-toxic detergent? Have you thought of switching from a traditional detergent to a natural detergent? If so, then doTERRA has the perfect solution for you, doTERRA On Guard Laundry Detergent.

With safe, natural ingredients and powerful essential oils, the doTERRA On Guard Laundry Detergent formula provides a non-toxic solution for lifting stains and giving clothes a lovely, clean scent. A simple swap in the laundry detergent can greatly reduce toxins in your home.

How to use doTERRA On Guard Laundry Detergent? Check the photo below!

3 Ways to Spring Clean Your Living Room

As a mom, I always wish for our house to be clean and tidy. But as my dad used to say “ You can wish in one and and spit in the other and see which one fills up the fastest.” Needless to say having a clean house and raising a family is NOT easy. (Raise your hand if you agree with me.)

Thankfully, essential oils helped me find cleaning fun, enjoyable and SAFE!. I believe that it is important to take the necessary precautions to ensure our home is safe from Do you know how many  harmful toxins are in normal cleaning products???

For today’s “Do you doTERRA daily?” I want to focus on how to keep your  living room clean and fresh using essential oils.

BRRRR…It’s Cold Outside! Air-X to The Rescue!

February is another cold month in Minnesota… as in, EXTREMELY cold! This is the time of year  I stay at home doing my work online and catch up on those home projects I’ve been meaning to get to.

For some, extreme cold weather can cause discomfort as it triggers trouble in breathing. Luckily for me, I have an amazing natural solution that helps me deal with this discomfort while staying at home and doing those extra chores.

Today’s “Do you dōTERRA daily?” is all about getting fresh air and inviting a sweet aroma in your home despite the cold weather outside. Indoor plants and Air-X to the rescue!!

I needed to do something about the quality of air in my house so this weekend I added a few new indoor plants to clear the air naturally and to purify the air I breathe. And… they make me feel better! I love the extra green and the sight of living things when outside looks so bleak and dead. (Side note: Before you bring a new plant home, please make a research first to those that are kid and pet safe because some plants can be poisonous.)

This is the new plant stand I just added
Improve the air in your home with Air-X!

I’m going crazy over my AirX Blend. You guys know how much I love Citrus Bliss? I love Air-X almost as much, it is really that good!!

Air-X is a blend of essential oils with an intense citrusy, woody, and faintly herbal aroma, It is designed to help freshen the air and create a calm yet energizing atmosphere when diffused. Check this dōterra blog for the usage tips!

I diffuse Air-X to help purify my air, which has an AMAZING effect! Experimental research suggests that Litsea, an essential oil used in Air-X, soothes and promotes feelings of openness and may provide cleansing benefits. I love the idea that it is enriched with a combination of Litsea, Tangerine, Grapefruit, Frankincense, and Cardamom oils meant to help cool and enliven the body, and it helps me breathe better…bonus!!

Want your Air-X? click here

One more thing to really help improve the air quality in your home, have your ducts cleaned. If you are in the Twin Cities metro area I highly suggest Clean Air Restoration. Not only are they amazing to work with, they will also run doTERRA oils through your ducts for an extra clean! Mention “Ronai” (that is pronounced Row Nay) for a special discount.

Aiming for a Better Night’s Sleep

A month ago, I traveled to Salt Lake City from Minneapolis to assist my daughter Ellie, and to help my first grandbaby enter this world! (I know, I can’t believe I’m a grandma either!!)  I was so blessed to be with Ellie on her journey to becoming a mother. And on December 22, 2020 She became a mom and I became a grandma, I became Nai Nai! That was my childhood nickname and I’m so excited to be called Nai Nai again.

There were sleepless nights, 2 weeks on a couch is no joke. There was the exhausting hours of helping with labor and trying to catch a wink in the hospital, but I can say it was all worth it. It was all worth it because of our new bundle of joy, Owen Anders! Bringing him home was indeed a celebration!

For a first-time grandma, this transition was not easy. Caring for a newborn with inadequate sleep can be exhausting, but I survived the first few days and nights with him. How???? Essential oils of course!!

Did you know that applying doTERRA’s Balance to the soles of my feet at the beginning and end of the day helped me to feel calm and relaxed while helping my daughter take good care of Owen? Created with the purpose of grounding emotions, doTERRA’s Balance is formulated with emotionally beneficial essential oils that work together to create a sense of calmness and well-being. The calming and soothing blend of Balance encouraged me to have a restful night’s sleep. And…it smells so good, I super love it!

As I prepared for this special event in our family, I made sure to pack my Serenity and Breathe so I could diffuse them. This helps me create a restful mood and a peaceful environment for sleep, just like at home.

doTERRA Serenity Restful Blend has a calming and relaxing aroma that can be sensed immediately, transporting the user to a state of blissful repose. ( Don’t you want Blissful repose in your life?) doTERRA Serenity combines essential oils renowned for their ability to create a restful environment at bedtime.

These two are part of my nightly routine and are my bedside buddies!!!

Immune Support

I’m back! After a way too long break, I am back to writing. I don’t know about you but this whole pandemic thing has thrown my life into a bit of chaos. I needed to shift, well, everything to this new way of life. What didn’t change is my focus on health and wellness. It just became a lot more intense.

So, for this first Wednesday Wellness I want to talk about immune support. This has been my most talked about subject since March, second only to mood support which I will talk about next week.

First I want to know. Are you taking care of yourself? Are you drinking enough water? Are you moving your body and are you keeping a positive mindset? These things will do a TON for your immune system. I don’t know about you but I know that in the beginning of this pandemic I was eating way too many sweets, I might’ve even perfected my cinnamon rolls. But now I’m going to suggest that we lay off the sweets. Sugar will destroy your immune system. Does this mean cut out all the fun that life has to offer? No it just means to cut back and be conscious of what you are consuming.

Now for some helpful tips that are a lot easier to do than cutting out sugar completely.

1. Add citrus oils to your water. Citrus oils like Lemon, Lime and  Grapefruit are some of my favorites. This will not only help your water to taste great but will help your body eliminate unwanted extra in your body. Internal use naturally cleanses the body and aids in digestion.

2. Use OnGuard daily to support your body’s immune system. You can use it aromatically, topically and internally. I like to put a drop or two of OnGuard on my feet every night and every morning. I use the OnGuard Cleaning products and the OnGuard hand sanitizer. There is a lot of research that has gone into OnGuard but for a quick (and educational) project that was done by a 5th grader check out this blog post.

3. A new Fav of mine to support my immune system is Stronger. I know it says it’s a kid’s blend but it is strong enough for an adult, you just need to apply it more often…no problem as I LOVE the aroma! I roll this on my neck, wrists and feet.

This is a good start, for more information on how to support your immune system, please check out some of my other blogs AND come to a free educational class. We have a bunch of them here!

I look forward to helping you along your journey of health and wellness.

Alōha!

Michael and I are here in beautiful Hawaii!!! The spirit of Aloha is all around us.

This pic was after a 12 hour flight, tired but happy to be here.

Alōha! “A term generally associated with “Hello!” and “Goodbye!” Aloha also means love, compassion, kindness and grace. Its literal Hawaiian definition is “The presence of (Divine) breath.” It is taken from Alo = presence, front, or face and Hâ = breath.” How incredibly beautiful is that???

We here because we earned this trip by helping people learn how to use doTERRA in their daily lives. Maybe it was because they had a short-term problem that needed a quick, safe and effective solution? Maybe it was something that had been with them for a long time that they hadn’t been able to solve using traditional methods? Whatever the reason, we are so blessed to have been able to help them not only find a natural solution for what ailed them at the time, but we’ve also been able to help them continue to choose safe solutions for everyday normal things (toothpaste, laundry, skin care…etc)

If you are one of the amazing people that I mention above, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you for reading this blog, and for trusting us with your health and wellness needs. Thank you for choosing into “Do dōTERRA daily.” Please let us know how we can continue to serve and guide you on this journey.

This is Emily Wright one of the founders of doTERRA. I’m so incredibly blessed by Emily and all of the founders. This is a company that really cares about their people.

For those of you curious about this thing called doTERRA please reach out to me. I’d love to chat with you and give you all the details. The cool thing about this company is that it is all about choices. There are those that choose in at the wholesale level. This is for those people that are not interested in selling, they want to learn safe solutions but aren’t interested in the business.

There are those that would love to share with friends and family and if they make enough money to get their own oils paid for in the process then all the better.

And there are those that would love to share with friends, family, co workers, random strangers in the grocery store…etc. Those are people like me who would also love to earn a beautiful incentive trip to a tropical place in the middle of the winter. (Did I mention that it was -35 degrees the day I left Minnesota to fly here.)

What ever your choice I’m here to support you. So… are you ready to take action in your life? Contact me for your Free Wellness Consultation. #doyoudōTERRAdaily

Alōha!

Icy roads, white knuckles and neck tension

(This post was written on Dec 28th, Due to a death in the family and our daughters wedding this is the first opportunity I’ve had to post it)

This morning I got up very early because I had a “30 min” drive to the airport, and allowing myself the 2 hour before flight time meant that I had to be up at 5 am out the door by 5:45 gives and extra 15 mins if roads are bad. No problem.  Well it’s a good thing that I was ready 20 mins early. The news had been reporting that 6am-3pm the twin cities would be under a winter storm advisory. I figured our drive in would be easy-peasy and my husband might have a bit of weather to deal with on the way home.

The drive started out fine but about 15 mins in it starts to rain a little, no problem. I’ve lived in MN since I was 7 and my hubby has been here the last 24 years so we are totally fine with winter driving. Then we go over an overpass and the car starts to slide to the side, and up ahead of use we start seeing people’s hazard lights come on. So, my husband slows down, then slows down some more. We now understand why the hazards, it was completely unsafe to drive faster than 15-20 miles an hour. Next thing I know a huge garbage truck is sliding sideways in our direction. It almost hit us, as in less than a foot from us.

The lights should not be facing us on this side of the highway

I’d like to say that I had the presence of mind to get my oils out at this point, but I did not. I spent the next half an hour watching out for cars that wanted to slide into us, and there were more than a few. We ended up stopped on the highway with a pile up in front of us, 2 cars tried to go around and almost slide into us. (I’m talking inches close to our car) Michael had to pull off into the grass at one point to avoid one car. Just the way the road was banked was enough that cars were sliding wiley-niley. A food truck slide into a park-and-go shuttle. And all the while I’m watching the time tick closer to us missing the flight. I’d love to say that I thought about grabbing my oils here, but again I was so stressed out I didn’t even think of it.

Here we are in the grass

We finally got moving and were able to go around the 8-9 car pile-up and were so close to the airport I thought “Oh we are going to make it” Then I saw the line of red lights, then the emergency lights, and I knew that was going to be the end of it. Thankfully my son saw the “service” road sign and we were able to exit and take the service road for the airport.

We got out of the car at the hotel airport, took the skyway to the tram and were able to make our flight on time. The flight however was delayed 45 mins while they waited for the flight crew that was stuck in that 8-9 car pileup…yikes.

When I finally was able to calm down at the gate I realized a few things. First, I’m not sure that I put on deodorant this morning and mine is packed. On Guard Hand Sanitizing Mist to the rescue. It totally works in a pinch. If you’ve just shaved though it might sting a bit.

Next, I was stressed! That was a hard, stressful ride, so I pulled out my oils and went to work. A little Brave because well… I wasn’t feeling all that excited about Michael driving home. I’m not worried about his driving skills, he’s amazing. I did however witness a lot of people making very foolish choices and affecting others cars. I also just really love the aroma of Brave. I know its our kids blend but as Tara says “I was so Brave!”

https://www.instagram.com/p/BoxIeSUnkia/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

I also noticed a lot of tension in my neck and jaw.  I have a habit of clenching when stressed so I pulled out my Past Tense and applied it to both of those areas. I only wish I would have thought of it sooner.

So, today’s “Do you dōTERRA daily?” is a reminder that even the most diligent oil users can get overwhelmed and not think about the tools they have right in front of them until the crisis has passed. I’m just thankful that when I did think about what my body needed; I had those tools with me.

Side note… Got a call right before my plane took off that my son crashed my van, he is ok ? but the van is not drive-able. Hug your loved ones, cuddle up and stay warm.  #doyoudoTERRAdaily
